Getting a New Cat
Getting a new cat is a very exciting time in a person's life. Imagining the fun you'll have with your new pet will make you smile and become excited. When bringing a new cat into your family, you'll want to be sure everything is setup for a smooth transition – this is the transition that both you and your cat will be going through. You're not used to living with this cat and you probably don't even know what its personality is like at this point. Although it may seem like a mellow cat right now, it might get a burst of energy and become hyper in a few days.
Your cat also doesn't know you yet. It doesn't know what you like and don't like, what your habits are, or even where it's going to sleep when it first gets there. You need to be sure your new cat has a place to eat, sleep, and use the restroom. It's also a good idea to buy it a couple of toys for your cat.
Where to Put the Litter Box
Your cat's litter box really should be kept out of the way of the normal flow of traffic in your home. If possible, place it in a mud room, a bathroom, or some other place that people do not frequent. Washrooms are also popular rooms for litter boxes. Litter boxes tend to carry a strong smell, and you don't want your visitors to have to be around that smell. Another worthwhile idea is to put several cans of cheap air freshener in the same room with the litter box and spray them once each day.
