Spaying and Neutering

Spaying and neutering can be a controversial issue. It is, however, a necessary task that keeps the pet population under control. When you think about it, though, not everyone can get their pets spayed or neutered. This would cause the pet population to disappear entirely.

However, there is another side to this issue. If nobody spayed or neutered their pets, there would be far too many animals around. The fact is that there are only so many homes for these animals. When there are more animals than there are homes, the excess animals become strays.

Stray dogs and cats can pose a danger to the public. They are not trained or vaccinated. This means that they can spread diseases to your pets and your family. When strays become a problem, they generally end up in shelters, and are often euthanized.

Having a problem with strays can lead to a great deal of issues. These can all be avoided if enough people spay and neuter their pets. Again, this is not a procedure for everyone. Breeders and anyone who can handle a litter of puppies or kittens do not need to get their pets spayed or neutered. Most other people, however, should seriously consider the process.
